About US

St. Paul's by the Sea Episcopal Church puts the worship of God, revealed through Jesus Christ, at the center of our communal life. Our parish is open to worshippers of all ages and backgrounds, all races, genders, and sexual orientations. We lead one another in worship, in deepening our connection to God, in understanding the teachings of Christ, and in forming a vibrant faith through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Our purpose is to become a center in our surrounding community as a place for education and expression of the Gospel, as well as for spiritual growth through a deeper understanding of our own identity as Episcopalians. We aim to care for one another and welcome those outside our walls.

SPBTS has a long history of serving the people of Jacksonville Beach, and we’re always open to new people with their own perspectives on how we can best do so. Through the dedication of our leadership, staff members and volunteers, we are committed to the teachings of Jesus Christ, and are here to spread His message. Tuesday Book Club and Lunch Bunch, now known as Books at Noon, will not meet in December. The next meeting is January 30, at Noon, when they will discuss “The Personal Librarian” by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray. This is a remarkable novel about J.P. Morgan’s personal librarian, Belle da Costa Greene, “the Black American woman who was forced to hide her true identity and pass as white in order to leave a lasting legacy that enriched our nation.” All are invited to join the conversation!

The Angel Tree program lead by the Salvation Army helps provide Christmas gifts for hundreds of thousands of children around the country each year. It was a blessing to have had every request on our Angel Tree filled this year. This is a Christmas tradition that makes the season brighter for both the gift giver and receiver. Our final Icon Class of 2023 got underway yesterday! The 5-day journey is a spiritual retreat. During which attendants create a beautiful Icon using acrylic paint with gold leaf on a wooden board. Icon writing is a great way to prepare for Christmas. They are not simply artworks; "an icon is a sacred image used in religious devotion" The Icons will also be blessed during a Sunday Service. As part of our November Outreach, our parishioners along with Beaches Rescue and Recovery Mission provided Thanksgiving dinner to Jacksonville Beach residents and others in need. Jax Beach Brother's Keeper hosted a Compassion Night for the Beaches homeless population in partnership with The Beaches Homeless Coalition, St. Paul's by the Sea Episcopal Church and in coordination with other Jacksonville Beach churches including Community Presbyterian Church over this past weekend. The goal was to provide and escape from the Summer heat and hot meals for the Beaches homeless population. Each person was provided with a shower from Love Cleans, shampoo, razor, soup, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste.

The Incredible Edibles Collectibles Department is ready to start accepting items for this year’s event. Only items in good saleable condition will be received for sale. Furniture in good condition and non-electric household items are welcomed. Children’s toys, games (all pieces intact) and books as well as gently used children’s clothing especially jackets and sweaters will also be welcomed. No electronics (TV’s, Computers, Printers, etc.) can be accepted. No grills, propane tanks or non-working power tools. Our Children’s Sunday School will begin back on Sunday, August 20th for ages Kindergarten through fourth grade. We have missed you all!!! Sunday School begins at 10:00am and concludes around 10:40, so the children can join their family members for Communion in the Church Sanctuary. The nursery is also always available for the very young where they will learn about God’s unconditional love through stories and creative play. We hope to see your children there!

Our Summer Celebration by the Sea has been RESCHEDULED for this Sunday June 25th due to a week of inclement weather. The heavy rainfall limited the available parking here on campus. The event will start this Sunday at 11:00 am on the front lawn of the church! We will still host E&W BBQ Food Truck, a Bounce House, Tons of Games, as well as Great Family Fun & Fellowship!
